چکیده

Inorganic nanoparticles have emerged as an attractive theranostic tool applied to different pathologies such cancer. However, the increment in inorganic nanoparticle application biomedicine has prompted scientific community assess their potential toxicities, often preventing them from entering clinical settings. Cytoskeleton network and related adhesomes nest are present most cellular processes proliferation, migration, cell death. The treatment can interfere with cytoskeleton adhesome dynamics, thus inflicting damage. Therefore, it is crucial dissecting molecular mechanisms involved cytotoxicity. This review will briefly address main characteristics of adhesion structures focus on relevant effects biomedical dynamics. Besides, put into perspective use for targeting or study a versatile tool. dissection nanoparticle-driven interference dynamics facilitate future development nanotheranostics tackle several diseases,

The switchable integrin adhesome.

Adhesion sites, which interconnect cells with their neighbors or with the extracellular matrix (ECM), are large multiprotein complexes that provide mechanical coupling as well as a means for cells to sense the chemical and physical properties of their environment (Bershadsky et al., 2003; Chen et al., 2004; Geiger et al., 2001; Sastry and Burridge, 2000). The complex interplay between the mecha...

The echinoderm adhesome.

Although the development of sea urchin embryos has been studied extensively and clearly involves both cell adhesion and cell migration, rather little is known about the adhesion receptors and extracellular matrix molecules involved. The completion of the genome of Strongylocentrotus purpuratus allows a comprehensive survey of the complement of cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion molecules in thi...

Evolution of complexity in the integrin adhesome

Integrin-mediated adhesion is as ancient as multicellularity, but it was not always as complex as it is in humans. Here, I examine the extent of conservation of 192 adhesome proteins across the genomes of nine model organisms spanning one and a half billion years of evolution. The work reveals that Rho GTPases, lipid- and serine/threonine-kinases, and phosphatases existed before integrins, but ...

Dissecting the Dynamics of Corticothalamic Feedback

The thalamus and neocortex are intimately interconnected via a reciprocal arrangement of feedforward and feedback projections. In this issue of Neuron, Crandall et al. (2015) provide key insight into the functional dynamics of feedback projections and reveal the cellular and circuit mechanisms that underlie a rate-dependent switch in the net influence, suppression versus excitation, that cortex...
